Ubuntu will automatically load it if your hardware supports it. Compiz requires that you have a relatively modern video card (5 years old or newer) and that you have it turned on. My only beef with it was simply that the terminal would just pop up on the screen rather than drop down from the top. It’s very simple no bells or whistles other than the ability to adjust the Opacity. One such software package, Guake, has become a personal favorite of mine.

I suppose there would be a less complex way of implementing tmux, but as soon you add this feature you will basically need to redo all the hard work tmux has done, which is fine, but is no small task. sometimes the visor is blocking the URL bar of the browser, so I move it to the bottom and sometimes it is blocking the bottom etc.Īfter having used tmux for quite some time, I don't really see the need for this feature.

I recently added a keyboard shortcut in RHEL7 of `ctrl + alt + ^` (because my guake toggle is right next to it with `ctrl + alt + t`) and gave it a value of `/usr/bin/fish -command=guake_bottop_toggle` where the `guake_bottop_toggle` command is in the snippet above.
I have recently switched to an Arch system with the new Guake 3 in GTK3 and the have updated the snippet above to work in it by using `dconf` as opposed to `gconftool-2`.
